A collaborative project between Becky Hogg Embroidery and The William Morris Society.
Strawberry Thief was first produced in 1883 and was inspired by William Morris’s observation of the thrushes creeping under the strawberry nets to steal the fruit in the garden of his Oxfordshire home, Kelmscott Manor. It remains one of his most popular designs today.
This new kit from Becky Hogg Embroidery celebrates the technique of metal thread embroidery. With a combination of silk covered purls and fine metal wire threads the Strawberry Thief embroidery kit is a translation of the print, in its original colourway.
Learn how to embroider with a variety of metal threads in rows, loops and zig zags to create texture and pattern in this beautiful design, all finished off with a freshly stolen strawberry!
Once complete the embroidery can be mounted into a 10cm diameter wooden hoop ready to display.
Clear illustrated step by step instructions will guide you through this hand embroidery project.
All the kits are designed by Becky Hogg Embroidery and produced by hand in the U.K.
Kit includes – Wooden hoop, linen, cotton sewing threads, suede, silk covered metal threads, metal purl threads, needles and instructions, all packaged in a stylish hand screen printed gift box to keep everything safe.
This kit is suitable for all levels, but not advisable for children as it contains small parts.
